TU Wien:Data Stewardship VO (Rauber)/Questions from Slides
Questions from the slides of summter term 2020. These are not necessarily questions relevant for the exam?
The plan is currently not to answer every question in detail right away, but first of all put pointers to the respective slides, maybe a short answer and/or a full answer, as time progresses and time permits.

Slide Set #5: Digital Preservation Introduction[Bearbeiten | Quelltext bearbeiten]
[Sl. 85]
At what levels are digital objects threatened?[Bearbeiten | Quelltext bearbeiten]
1) Physical Level: Preservation at the bitstream level. Ensure redundancy.
2) Logical Level: Digital objects require a specific environment to be accessible, i.e. SW, HW. Files need specific programs, programs need OS of possibly specific version, OS may need specific HW to work.
3) Semantic Level: How to interpret the data and the information in the object?
What are the time intervals at each level?[Bearbeiten | Quelltext bearbeiten]
How can we identify objects at risk?[Bearbeiten | Quelltext bearbeiten]
What can we do to mitigate the risk?[Bearbeiten | Quelltext bearbeiten]
How can we recover if mitigation fails / is missed?[Bearbeiten | Quelltext bearbeiten]
