Ablauf

2025W: In the first phase, a fixed set of papers from 3 different research areas in software engineering are distributed among the students. You can give preference votes to every paper through a website before a deadline, and afterwards papers are assigned based on these preferences. Then later on in the semester, student's have to present their paper in class and participate in a research discussion revolving around the thematic area of their paper. There are 3 days of presentations (1 per research area) and attendance is required only on the day that you yourself have to present (but you have to stay the whole session and watch the other students' presentations and participate in the research discussion). Finally, you have to choose 5 out of the 10 papers within that research area and write a short (2-page) report comparing different aspects of these papers' research methods.

Prüfung, Benotung

2025W: Both your presentation & participation in the research discussion are evaluated together and account for half your grade. The second half is the written report. Both must be positive to pass the class. In my opinion, the grading is super fair if you put in decent effort.

2025W: I'd say moderate to high, because you not only have to study & present your own paper, but also thoroughly read 4 more for the final report.
