Coin game

Two players, A and B, alternately and independently flip a coin and the first player to obtain a head wins. Assume player A flips first.

(a) If the coin is fair, what is the probability that A wins?

(b) Suppose that P (head) = p, not necessarily 1/2 . What is the probability that A wins?

a) $p={\frac {1}{2}}+{\frac {1}{2}}(1-p).$

$\implies p=2/3$

b) $P({\text{head}})=x$

$p=x+x(1-p).$

$\implies p={\frac {2x}{1+x}}$

--Korrekturvorschlag-- Für das zweite beispiel sollte eigentlich gelten:

$p=x+(1-x)(1-p).$ - Der Wurf von A muss tails sein und daher ist die Wahrscheinlichkeit $(1-x)$

$\implies p={\frac {1}{2-x}}$
