Short Questions[Bearbeiten | Quelltext bearbeiten]
- 3 common infoVis tasks - how many attributes does the pixel bar allow you to see - what is force-directed graph ? - there was a biplot conserving the similarities. They gave us two attributes and asked if they are correlated or not. - there was parallel coordinates graoh and asked what attributes are co-linear . - what is Flannery's compensation. Why do we need it. - reasons why we need image registration.
Long Questions[Bearbeiten | Quelltext bearbeiten]
- two main challenges of scalability and how to overcome these challenges. Describe the techniques. - problems with 3D network graph when we increase the number of the nodes. What techniques should we use to solve this problem. - high dimensional data: you have a dataset containing a number of countries as rows and number of indicators (life expectancy , ... ) as columns. The task is to design a graph which enables you to easily compare countries and continents. You are also supposed to say how you get there and what techniques to use.

Short Questions[Bearbeiten | Quelltext bearbeiten]
- Name 3 complex data types (imo family of curves, surfaces, set-type attribute) - name 3 1d visualizations - which of the histograms represents a given scatterplot - Name 3 focus+context visualization methods - advantages/disadvantages of alpha blending and random sampling - What is the lie factor - When are non-linear dimension reduction algorithms superior to linear dimension reduction algorithms? Name at least one example (for non-linear).
Long Questions[Bearbeiten | Quelltext bearbeiten]
- Describe the steps of the InfoVis reference model - Describe hybrid simulation steering - Describe Coordinated Multiple Views
