Inhalt[Bearbeiten | Quelltext bearbeiten]
In this course you will evaluate your own project in regards of RRI dimensions in a group of 4-5 people. You should evaluate which RRI dimensions are relevant and how these are reflected in your project, if they exist. The RRI dimensions are:
- ethics
- gender equality
- open access
- governance
- public engagement
- science education
Ablauf[Bearbeiten | Quelltext bearbeiten]
You get into groups of 4-5 people. The main task is to write and evaluate a fictional proposal for funding for a project. The project can be ongoing, finished or purely fictional, although using an existing project tends to be less work. The proposal should include a focus on RRI aspects of the project. At the end, you will be asked to review a project from another group. During the semester you have four meetings
- Finding group and choose project
- Present project details (pitch)
- Present proposal for funding
- Present critical review
First, you hand in a project details (1 page) which should contain a short description, goals, and results. This will be presented in a pitch (approx. 5 minutes without any slides). In the second phase, you should write a proposal for funding (approx. 2500 words). In the 3rd meeting all groups will present their proposal (approx. 15 min presentation + 15 min QA). After the presentation you will review the proposal from another group. The result will be also presented in a separate meeting .
At the end of the semester, you will hand in the revised proposal as final submission.
Benötigte/Empfehlenswerte Vorkenntnisse[Bearbeiten | Quelltext bearbeiten]
It is recommended to do this course in parallel with TU Wien:Responsible Research and Innovation VU (Purgathofer), which provides the theoretical background. It's also possible to do the VU first and PR later, but lecturers and content may change from year to year.
Vortrag[Bearbeiten | Quelltext bearbeiten]
Only the meetings, where you present your results. The first two meetings are kept rather short (1 1/2 hours each). For the presentation of proposals and critical reviews, it depends on how many groups there are. But this take mostly a whole afternoon (approx. 4 hours)
Prüfung, Benotung[Bearbeiten | Quelltext bearbeiten]
The grades will be calculated based on your proposal, presentation and revised proposal.
Dauer der Zeugnisausstellung[Bearbeiten | Quelltext bearbeiten]
Submission of proposal: 15.02.2018, Certificate: 07.03.2018
Zeitaufwand[Bearbeiten | Quelltext bearbeiten]
Overall, I think that this course is not very time consuming, since there is no really mandatory presence phase and no written exam at the end. However, you need to coordinate with your group members on writing the proposal - this should not be underestimated. It highly depends on your group (if you know each other, how many of you know the project, prior experiences with writing proposals etc.)
