Inhalt

Exogenous and endogenous growth models in continuous (all the other ones - see tiss) and discrete time (OLG)

Excursion about linear models (two staged linear models) and growth accounting.

Mathematical tools beyond CS math education (using Optimal Control Theory (Hamiltonian), Leibniz integration, Bernoulli differential equation) to solve some of the models are presented in the lecture or hinted in the ue-exercises.

(no need to worry about this - no crazy stuff here - in doubt ask your fellow econ math students - its a mandatory course for them. they will be around :) ).

Meetings once a week for 45*2 minutes, material used in lecture available on tuwel

Benötigte/Empfehlenswerte Vorkenntnisse

Mathematical foundations as Algebra for CS [1] and Analysis 1 for CS [2], as well as some course on optimization [3] is needed.

Any basic macro [4] and micro [5] course helps a lot.

Advised, but not necessary to do in advance, advanced macro [6] as well as any course in econometrics [7] and maybe (maybe) modeling and simulation [8][9].

check out the lecture (in case you like the style of the lecturer) it is highly recommended, very personal and interactive sometimes.

lecture is focuses on the general intuition of the models, lecture slides are detailed and contain helpful appendices. In case one need more material links to books are provided in the slides.

Prüfung, Benotung

Written exam lasts about 120 min - about general understanding of the models and derivations of certain formulas (as taught in ue).

Oral exam lasts about 20 minutes - no derivations on e.g. white board required (in case you want to, you are allowed to)
