Benötigte/Empfehlenswerte Vorkenntnisse

ADM und ANA empfehlenswert aber nicht notwendig um die VO positiv abzuschließen. Der Großteil des Stoffes wird von Grund auf erklärt. Lediglich Integralrechnung sollte man beherrschen oder sich vor der VO nochmal anschauen.

Vortrag

WS25: Der Vortrag ist in zwei geteilt. Die erste Hälfte der VO wird von Daniel Kapla gehalten und befasst sich mit Wahrscheinlichkeitstheorie. Der Vortrag und die Folien sind jedoch auf Englisch. Der Vortrag an sich ist in Ordnung, jedoch gab es einige Fehler auf den Folien im WS25. Die zweite Hälfte der VO wird von Andrey Kofnov gehalten und befasst sich mit Statistik, auch wieder auf Englisch. Jedoch sind die Englischfähigkeiten von Kofnov eher sub-par, man hat öfters das Problem, dass man nicht versteht was er meint, außerdem wiederholt er sich relativ oft. Die Folien der VO sind relativ dicht verpackt und zu jeder VO-Einheit gibt es einen eigenen Foliensatz (ca. 650+ Folien).

Stimme zu, die Aufzeichnungen des Statistik-Teils sind kaum zu verstehen. Habe dann nur noch von den Folien gelernt (viel mehr wird in der VO eh nicht gesagt, als auf den Folien steht, bzw. habe ich akustisch nicht viel mehr verstanden) und YouTube, Google und ChatGPT für Fragen verwendet. Letzeres erklärt mittlerweile wirklich gut.

[Die gelöschte Statistik ist respektlos und bringt absolut keinen Mehrwert. Bitte macht das nicht.] [Die Statistik ist nur so "respektlos" wie die Antworten der LVA-Leitung auf die Testergebnisse. Es existiert nun eine PDF-Version als Anhang.]

(Ich bin mit den Ergebnissen der Prüfung und den bisherigen Antworten der LVA-Leitung genauso unzufrieden wie du. Aber die beste Reaktion darauf ist es wahrscheinlich nicht, eine statistische Analyse des Tics des Professors zu machen. Ich weiß, dass du dir dabei Mühe gegeben hast, aber ich würde dich trotzdem bitten, den Anhang wieder zu entfernen :/.

Wenn wir wirklich wollen, dass uns jemand zuhört und vielleicht überlegt, wie Dinge in Zukunft anders gemacht werden könnten, sollten wir dabei respektvoll bleiben. Auch wenn die Antworten der LVA-Leitung bis jetzt nicht ganz rücksichtsvoll waren.)

Prüfung, Benotung

20 Fragen MC, Pro Frage eine Antwort von 4 richtig. Bestehgrenze 50% (10 Fragen richtig). Ein A4 (beidseitig, handgeschrieben) Formelzettel und nicht programmierbarer TR (slang für Taschenrechner) darf zur Prüfung mitgenommen werden.

Die Fragen sind grundsätzlich eher theoretisch, es gibt aber auch Fragen zu R Befehlen

2025W (Prüfung Jänner): Meiner Meinung nach die erste Prüfung in meinem Studium, die teilweise wirklich unfair war. Ich hab sowohl ANA als auch ADM first try mit einem 2er bestanden (beide bei Gittenberger, kein Flex, sondern als Referenz) und war bei dieser Prüfung wirklich verloren. Fragen gingen teilweise extrem tief in die Theorie, andere Fragen sind in Wirklichkeit Integralrechnung. Ich würd sagen 6-7 Fragen kriegt man schon gut hin, der Rest war mMn. sehr spezifisch. Dann gibt es auch Fragen die in Wirklichkeit nur abfragen ob Formel XY auf dem Formelzettel steht. Das klingt zwar leicht, aber da man auf ein A4 Blatt beschränkt ist, ist schon gut möglich, dass man diese Formel gar nicht auf dem Formelzettel hat (z.B. beim Themenblock Linear Regression).

Vielleicht ist das auch dem zuzuschreiben, dass es das erste Mal ist, dass Prof. Kapla diese VO hält, aber alles in allem muss ich leider sagen, dass ich diese Prüfung nicht angemessen fand. Es gab zwar ein Example Exam aber, das war von der Schwierigkeit kaum zu vergleichen mit der echten Prüfung.

2025W (Prüfung Jänner) (andere Meinung) : Ich habe mir ein VOWI-Konto erstellt, ausschließlich um meine Unzufriedenheit mit der LVA-Prüfung zum Ausdruck zu bringen. Für diese Prüfung habe ich mich lediglich eine Woche vorbereitet – was an der TU ohnehin unterdurchschnittlich ist –, da ich in den zwei Wochen davor an Corona erkrankt war. Hätte ich gewusst, dass die Prüfung derart konstruiert ist, dass man sie praktisch nur mit mindestens einem Monat Vorbereitung bestehen kann, hätte ich die letzte Woche geschlafen. Durch die vollständige Fehlinformation seitens der LVA-Leitung, dass der Test jenem von Levajkovic ähneln würde, habe ich nun einen Prüfungsantritt verloren. Wenn man sich nicht zu 100 % sicher ist, bei einer Levajkovic-Prüfung eine Eins zu schreiben, sollte man sich meiner Meinung nach nicht einmal die Mühe machen, zu dieser Prüfung anzutreten.

2025W (Prüfung Jänner) (noch andere Meinung): Ich habe lange überlegt ob ich mir überhaupt die Mühe machen soll hier etwas zu schreiben aber nach der Aktion heute, musste ich einfach was sagen. Ich stimme beiden anderen meinungen zu. (auch der Meinun "We Investigated Ourselves and Found No Wrongdoing: hypocritical TU elitism in its purest form.") Nachdem heute die Final entscheidung gefallen ist, dass die Benotungstabelle nicht angepasst wird finde ich es einfach eine Frechheit was hier abgeht. Sie veröffentlichen nicht mal eine Statistik wie viele leute welche Note geschafft hahben. 9/230 sind nicht mal 4%. Den Schwierigkeitsgrad so anzuheben für die gleiche Anzahl an ECT's ist halt einfach nur schwachsinn und ich hoffe, dass ihnen das irgendwann klar wir.

2025W (Prüfung Jänner) (die wahre Meinung von JACKED GUY): Die Prüfung war total machbar (Ich hatte 80/100). Wer immer auf einer Ähnlichkeit des Alttests hofft ist meiner Meinung (von JACKED GUY) an dieser Uni verloren. Es geht darum, dass man den Stoff auch versteht und nicht nach einem Muster (des Alttests) auswendig lernt. Wenn man es tatsächlich versteht, ist es sogar geschenkt, weil es Multiple Choice ist und man quasi schätzen bzw. einen educated guess machen kann. Die Leitung war katastrophal (sei nicht so defensiv, K&K.), keine Frage. Aber die Prüfung selbst? Machbar.

Letter from the bottom of my heart to the Profs:

Dear LV-Leitung, what the fuck.

We Investigated Ourselves and Found No Wrongdoing: hypocritical TU elitism in its purest form.

Disclaimer: This is not to be understood as a rant about the difficulty of the exam or the lecturers as individuals, but rather as justified criticism of the misleading miscommunication and completely false announcements on the part of the lecturers.

First of all, no statistical tables were provided during the exam, even though this had been announced several times, and I find it completely inappropriate and downright preposterous that the lecturers justify this retrospectively by saying that they were not needed. There was also no meaningful preparatory exam. Instead, an old exam by Prof. Levajkovic was re-uploaded as the only preparatory document, and it was repeatedly claimed that the actual exam would be very similar to this or other exams by Prof. Levajkovic. As over 200 students painfully discovered, this was absolutely not the case. The only similarity was the multiple-choice format with 20 questions, where there was always exactly one correct answer.

After a thorough evaluation of the exam by the lecturers, 9 out of approximately 230 people received a grade of 1. This seems to be significant evidence for the course instructors that the exam was "fully doable". However, how the other grades were distributed seems irrelevant, as their thorough investigation did not provide us with this superfluous information. Another statement by the lecturers suggests that integrals were not necessary unless one wanted to make the solution "unnecessarily" complicated. Honestly, I wonder, as another student mentioned below, why more in-depth questions were not covered during the practice sessions and why, instead, it was falsely claimed that such in-depth knowledge was not necessary for the exam. Perhaps more detailed explanations would have made the correct and not "unnecessarily" complicated solutions easier to understand.

This is the first time that I wholeheartedly and in all honesty cannot recommend a course, and not just because of a catastrophically miscommunicated exam. Prof. Kofnov's lectures on statistics are also rather difficult to understand and follow due to his accent. In addition, explanations by him are very often filled with lots of “yes”es, which is not necessarily conducive to understanding.

All in all, this course does not provide you with explanations, lectures, or materials that will prepare you for the exam in a meaningful way.

Further opinion WS2025: January 26th 2026

The only success this LV has had is causing a surge of students to create a VOWI-account. This is going to be a rant about the exam, the poor communication and the seemingly unfit team. All criticism towards indiviuals is merely in regards to their communication or attitude and should not be understood as hate speech or anything untowards.

First of all, as already mentioned by previous reviews, the old exams provided as preparation solely served the purpose of deceiving the students into false expectations. Doable or not, the exam that the students were confronted with was not comparable to the one provided as reference in terms of difficulty by any means. Furthermore, for the students having engaged with the exam with academic honesty, it is utterly disrespectful for the team to release a statement, which cannot feasibly be deemed as anything but dishonest, concluding that 9 out of ~230 people getting a 1 is somehow indicative of a reasonable and "doable" exam. Especially considering that statistics is their area of expertise.

When asked to provide this year's exam along with the solutions, they complied. They, however, included the condition "[...] but we may tweak the exam as necessary", which is confusing at best. I, for once, am not sure where the neccessity to tweak the exam may come from, considering the proven, thanks to their thorough investigation of their own findings, "appropriateness" of the exam.

As for the reason I call the team unfit, it is by no means in regards to their knowledge or qualifications. However, I feel compelled to express it that way due to their unprofessional attitude and highly disrespectful communication. All responses, mainly the ones by Prof. Kofnov, are nothing short of condescending, accusatory or downright petty. Every promise about the exam, with the only exception being the format, they made sure to break. The attitude towards the students is not one that is usually welcome nor accepted in any academic setting or at any reputable institute.

Just as other students have mentioned previously, this is not a course I can recommend to anyone who wishes to spare their dignity or to be treated with respect.

As for the Profs.: If your goal was to irritate students, congratuations. However, if your goal was to spread knowledge, gain respect or foster a healthy academic environment, then you have failed just as much as we have.

Tipps

Für die Prüfung unbedingt Variablentransformationen anschauen, insbesondere wie sich Erwartungswert, pdf und Varianz verhalten. Ebenso ungefähr wichtige z / p Werte (zB 1.96) aufschreiben, falls man sie nicht auswendig weiß. Auch formale Definition von Nullhypothese / Alternativer Hypothese, α/β genau anschauen.

Highlights / Lob

Für die Prüfung vom 26.01.2026 wurde die Notenverteilung von den Professoren auf TUWEL veröffentlicht. Zusätzlich wurden die Prüfung sowie die Musterlösung bereitgestellt.

Verbesserungsvorschläge / Kritik

They have been very misleading. First of all they provided an example test based off a colleague´s old tests from previous years. So literally nothing new from them. Secondly they have mentioned and verified that the upcoming test would be very similar to the example test. Other than that, "difficult" questions (as such in the actual test) have been brushed off during UE as "It is not necessary to know this much, the exam will be rather simple." Furthermore, they have told us SEVERAL times, as well as announced it publicly, that they would provide statistical table. Now imagine you study for the exam according to these notes. You are absolutely fucked. The exam is NOTHING like the example exam. They have not provided statistical tables, despite having needed them. The difficult questions brushed off were in fact very important. Not only is this misleading, it is also rather disrespectful - having wasted a chance on a test like that. Response to difficulty: "It was actually easy". Do you mean to say, we are just that bad? Well duh it was easy to you! You own a PHD! I understand they´re very new, but then they should´ve taken orientation to other profs or simply have been working UNDER them before actually holding a course themselves. Unbelievable that success depends on lucky ticks. Also I would like to remind you of free speech! I am free to use my right to express my displeasure in this course. This is not defamatory to you.
